Our story begins in Roanoke in 1984 when Scott Colston (pictured on the boom lift above) started his family-owned business “Scott’s Painting.” As a schoolteacher during the schoolyear and a house painter in the summers, Scott did an excellent job of making “vacation money” and also “paying bills” money by painting houses. With an excellent work ethic and moral character, Scott built a strong demand for his business with steady painting work all summer long.

When his son, Daniel was old enough to work, Scott brought him on as an apprentice in the business. They made a dynamic team for over 20 years while Scott was free during the summers, and Daniel was on summer and winter breaks in college, painting houses quickly, professionally, and expertly. Through the years, they painted hundreds of houses in Roanoke. There were even a few houses that Scott had painted back in the 90’s that Daniel ended up painting again in 2019 and 2022–the same houses, painted by 2 different Colston generations over 25 years later!

In 2016 while a youth pastor and with his father’s blessing, Daniel created his own painting LLC and in the spirit of his father’s business, named it “Daniel’s Painting.” Scott had moved to Lynchburg and also stopped painting as much. Throughout 2016-2020, Scott helped Daniel with the business whenever he had free time or was in Roanoke.

Daniel took on several painting jobs while working his other full-time jobs (first as a youth pastor and then as a financial advisor), but in 2020 he made several key hires in the painting business. In 2021 there were up to 6 full-time employees working at Daniel’s Painting. Now there are 3 full-time painters (plus Daniel) who all are master painters in their own rights. Daniel’s dedication to running a professional, quality business sets Daniel’s Painting LLC apart from the rest.

From 2020-2022 we painted over 100 houses and grossed over $350k/year. We now specialize in transforming the look of your home whether that is painting your kitchen cabinets for the first time, pressure washing the exterior of your house, or painting the interior of your home or business–we do it all!
